The Nose Mosque

Location:

Kerala, India

Year:

2015

Role:

Breaking free from the conventional language of religious architecture, The Nose redefines the idea of a mosque through material honesty and contextual simplicity. Rooted in local craft and culture, the design replaces ornamental excess with purity and purpose.
Built with terracotta, clay tiles, and perforated brick screens, the mosque celebrates natural textures and light. The minaret rises as a sculptural statement, an emblem of faith reinterpreted for the contemporary age.
Rather than replicating tradition, The Nose reimagines it, blending the essence of Islamic geometry with the warmth of vernacular materiality. The result is an architecture that is spiritual yet grounded, familiar yet forward looking.
