The Compact Villa
Location:
Dubai, UAE
Year:
2017
Role:
Designed as a compact two-level home, the villa balances openness and privacy within a refined modern form. The layout is organized in an “L” shape, dividing the spaces into three clear zones: social, private, and service.
The ground floor accommodates the open family living area, guest sitting, and a large private pool, while the first floor houses four bedrooms, including a generous master suite and a shared study area. A detached block accommodates the service functions, maintaining privacy and functionality.
A stone wall defines the entrance and separates the service access, with a reflective pool enhancing the approach. Two intersecting volumes frame the central family space, connecting it visually and physically to the backyard and pool. The upper rectangular mass shades the lower spaces, while vertical louvers protect the bedrooms from direct sunlight.
By maximizing space and clarity of form, the Compact Villa achieves simplicity, elegance, and efficiency in equal measure.
